Americans Just Wanta Have Fun!

by Gailstrail on March 11, 2011

I’ve just ordered the ‘Seeds of Destruction’ and am excited to get it in my hands. It will be interesting to see if the book reveals some correlation between what I discovered during my 10 years in Washington.

I read a lot. I do research for my writings’ and  I’m interested in what our great leaders and writers in the past thought about our country and the direction we took and are taking. President Woodrow Wilson made a disturbing statement; what’s more disturbing is knowing what to do with the knowledge that The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men”. President Woodrow Wilson said upon reflecting on the passage of the Federal Reserve Act.

“I am a most unhappy man, I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated governments in the civilized world. No longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominate men”

And then President Thomas Jefferson said:

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks…will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered…The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.”

Sometimes I feel like drowning myself in ‘fun’. I don’t want to face the realities that I dig up. But then the fun gets to feel so shallow and empty. What should I be doing with my time? What do I have the energy to do with my time? The majority of us are under paid and work long hours just to barely get by. The majority of us are so under-nourished we don’t have the energy to complain, much less the fortitude to make a change. And then there’s this emptiness inside, and nothing we do or eat seems to satisfy it!

Our children are ‘waking up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered’! My question. Who has the power to take ‘the issuing power from the banks and restore it to the people, to whom it properly belongs?’ I believe Kennedy talked about doing this, he certainly had the power, but look what doing so got him! But then his voice was very loud, he had the attention of our nation. No other President has spoken of doing such a thing since. And me, well, I’m just another sound bite, lost in the static.

I have to get away from the static that surrounds me 24/7; leave technology behind for awhile, get lost in the woods with the creaking of trees and the soft sounds of animals. There, I can satisfy my ineffable hunger. . In the meantime, I’ve choices to make; responsible choices. Choices that make a difference in the quality of the life I live. What an incredible luxury; doing what I want, when I want. I don’t take these ‘choices’  for granted. Isn’t that what we all want? To do what we want; when we want! Having the ‘choice’ on how I spend my time, makes me feel rich…and being well nourished makes me feel good doing whatever it is I want to do…FOOD Matters in so many ways!

It’s the little things we choose on a daily basis that make a difference in how our world looks… finding choices that feed our body and soul in this static filled world are rare and far between. Sometimes I go into the forest and stand still; lean against a huge tree , open my arms and close my eyes. (Yep, I’m a tree huger.) I want to breath as the tree; a long 24 hour breath.  Hugging the tree I find a long lost peace and I smile from the inside out.; and my power is alive and well! This isn’t an amusement; it’s harmony for the soul. It’s what keeps me kind and compassionate. Eating as locally and organically as much as I can keeps my body filled with the nutrition I need to stay healthy and have the energy to go to the woods…and the energy to pursue change that benefits each of us!

Happy Static Free Trails!

Sigolene,

I am thrilled that you took time out of your busy schedule to visit me here. Thank you so much. If I could discipline myself and follow instruction Michelle is willing to give me, I could reach many more people. That’s another story. Anyway, I feel your passion when I come in contact with you and know you are a marvelous human being.

I was thinking today, this morning in fact; how I might interact with your group. Firstly, I’d like to monitor a session and then, perhaps, if you believe it appropriate, I’d like to do a presentation around the film ‘Foodmatters’. A short presentation before (5 or 10 minutes); then we watch the Foodmatters film and have discussion afterward. What do you think?

Certainly, you may want to watch the film first, if you are not familiar with it. If you have Netflix, you can watch it on your computer or order it. Or, I’d be happy for you to come to my house and watch it. I believe everyone in the world should see this film! It’s that important.

Thanks again for stopping by.
